Group supervision for counsellors and therapists

Group supervision for counsellors and therapists is a new program being offered by the Moreno Collegium and is designed for professionals who are working in private practice, community groups or in organisations.

Why Group Supervision?

The work of being a counsellor or a therapist is demanding, challenging and highly satisfying. At times, it is very helpful to be with others who do similar work and to reflect on and set out the different systems that develop when working with groups and clients. During these sessions there will be opportunities to explore difficult and celebratory moments in one-to-one or group work; relationship issues with the client/s and themes that are problematic such as boundary issues, conflicts of interest and getting stuck.

There is a great benefit derived from working together with colleagues and gaining from the wisdom and experience of each other. It can reduce isolation, stimulate useful thinking and illuminate areas of professional work that requires further development. Participants are expected to actively involve themselves as presenters and as supervisors of one another. Psychodramatic action methods will be the primary way of working and no previous experience in in this method is necessary. The group leader has many years experience with supervision applying this method.

Brigid Hirschfeld will be running these groups. Brigid has been in private practice as a therapist for over 30 years and has conducted supervision groups for psychodrama trainees over the last eight years.
